Any Indian snack is incomplete without some kind of pakoras (fries). Even on festivals, people in India surely make some of the most popular snacks like Namak Pare, Dahi Bhalle, BreadRoll, Kachoris, Pakodas, Vada,…etc. There is endless list of snacks, which we can go on about, one by one …

Today i am going to make Mint Onion Pakoda. It is a very tasty and light snack with a crunch, that can be serve with any green or red chutney like Dhaniya chutney or tomato ketchup. Mint Pakodas can be made not only with onions but also with only Mint leaves and any vegetables. To bring the flavours and to make the mint pakora more tasty, add loads of fresh mint and coriander leaves.

Me and my family are fans of this snack called "Mint pakora". we enjoy thsi snack on a rainy day especially with hot tea . It is a delight to have these mint onion pakodas on days when you crave for a quick snack because it’s fast and easy to make.

So, lets move to step by step on how to make ‘Mint Pakora’. Firstly here are the ingredients you will need:

  •  Cup gram flour ( besan )
  • 1/4 cup of rice flour
  •  A large onion sliced
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves chopped
  • 1/4 chopped coriender leaves
  • 2-3 green chilli
  • 1/4 red chilli powder, cumin seeds, turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tea spoon ginger paste
  • required salt
  • oil for deep frying

Here are the step by step procedures :

A.) First prepare the dough :

1. Take Gram flour, sliced onions, chopped mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, ginger paste and required salt.

2. Now sprinkle required water and mix well using your hand. The onion pieces should be coated well with the flour.

3. The dough should be like tight paste and not like batter, otherwise it will soak more oil

B.)  Now its time to do preparation for frying pakoras.

4. take a deep frying pan .Heat enough oil in pan, over medium heat for deep frying.

5. For checking that the oil is hot enough or not, add a small amount of dough. if the dough raises to the surface immediately, then that is the right stage to start frying.

6. When the oil is hot enough then take a little bit of the dough and drop slowly into the hot oil. Do not put too many pakodas. They should have some space to move around. Stir occasionally for even frying.

7. Once they are golden brown, remove and transfer to an absorbent tissue placed on a plate. Repeat the process of deep-frying till the dough is completely done and then turn off the heat.

8.) Now Hot and crispy Mint Onion Pakodas are ready to be served with, Green, sour chutney or tomato sauce. Even its taste is also delicious and great without any chutneys.
