At least 4 people, including a London police officer who was stabbed, were killed during a terror incident that saw as many as a dozen people run over outside London's Parliament building on Wednesday.
Police said a vehicle mowed down pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge, leaving more than a dozen with injuries described as catastrophic.
Around the same time Wednesday, a knife-wielding attacker stabbed a police officer and was shot on the grounds outside Britain's Parliament, sending the compound into lockdown.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility and it was not clear if there was more than one attacker.
The assailant -- who looked to be in his 30s or 40s -- was carrying a seven to eight-inch knife, witnesses told Sky News.
It is unclear if the person shot by police and the driver are the same person.
London police confirmed there are a "number of casualties, including police officers."
Sources told Sky News that up to three officers were injured.
Scotland Yard Commander BJ Harrington told reporters there are multiple injuries, including police officers, but said authorities "cannot confirm numbers or the nature of these injuries."
"We received a number of different reports which included aperson in the river, a car in collision with pedestrians and aman armed with a knife," he added.

A truck slammed into a group of Israeli soldiers at a Jerusalem bus stop Sunday, killing four soldiers and wounding 17 other people before the Palestinian driver was fatally shot, police said about the latest round of deadly violence in more than a year.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while visiting the scene, said the attacker had been identified and “according to all the signs he was a supporter of the Islamic State.”
He said there “definitely could be a connection” between Sunday's incident and recent truck attacks into crowds in Berlin and in Nice, France, but did not offer any proof, the Associated Press reported.
Police chief Roni Alsheich described the crash as a terror attack. He said the truck driver was from an Arab neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Police did not release the driver's name.
The driver had veered off the road toward a group of off-duty soldiers who had just exited the bus to grab some food. After plowing into the group — and with several soldiers stuck beneath the wheels — the driver backed up, revved the engine and rammed into the group again, Jerusalem police spokesman Luba Samri said.
The soldiers, on a bus tour of Jerusalem, were visiting the Tayelet, a popular pedestrian promenade that provides a panoramic view.
Israel’s Channel 2 TV News identified the driver as Fadi al-Qanbar, 28, and said he had served time in an Israeli prison, but did not give details.
Sunday’s attack marks an intensification of the 16-month-long series of attacks carried out by Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank, and it was the first in three months to cause Israeli casualties. The attacks, mostly by knives and vehicles, had waned in recent months because of tightened Israeli security.

Protesters across the US were on Friday gearing up for weekend demonstrations over the election of Donald Trump, as other activists began work on plans to disrupt the Republican’s inauguration in Washington early next year.
Rowdy protests against Trump and his divisive campaign have spread to cities all over the country following his victory on Tuesday, leading to dozens of arrests and a complaint from Trump in one of his first public remarks as president-elect.
More than 10,000 people have signed up to attend a noon march on Saturday from New York’s Union Square to Trump Tower, the future president’s home and corporate headquarters, while several other actions are planned for other cities.
“Join us in the streets! Stop Trump and his bigoted agenda,” the organizers of the New York event said in a Facebook post.
Trump complained in a tweet late on Thursday that “professional protesters, incited by the media” were tarnishing his electoral success, which he said was “very unfair”. Amid intense criticism, Trump said hours later in a second post that he appreciated the “passion for our great country” shown by demonstrators.

And they will be ones, who will affected by such diversionary measures. People who have no bank accounts, their life savings will be targetted.”
Lekhi’s statement will cause huge embarrassment to the BJP leadership including the prime minister. The government has justified the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 claiming the move to be a masterstroke in the fight against black money.
The opposition parties, however, have condemned Modi’s announcement with some even calling it draconian.
